What is MPA?
MPA stands for Music Performance Assessment, the equivalent of the FSAT (P1-P3) for choir and band programs.
The Florida Vocal Association (FVA) organizes the Choral MPA in 16 districts across Florida annually. Our district is District 3. Choirs perform two songs for a panel of three respected adjudicators, and then sight-read rhythms and unison pieces for a fourth adjudicator.

How are choirs assessed?
During these assessments, adjudicators evaluate choirs based on tone quality, performance fundamentals, and musical effects. Each choir must also demonstrate the ability to sight-read music, showcasing their musical knowledge and on-the-spot music creation skills.
Ratings
Choirs are rated from Superior, Excellent, Good, Fair to Poor based on performance. Superior choirs receive a class plaque for their excellent performance. These assessments help music educators and students improve their music skills.
Out-of-County Travel
Each student must complete a Medical Authorization Form at the beginning of each school year, which is digitally filed in our FOCUS platform. Students who do not have one on file must fill one out in the front office and return it to be scanned.
This year, we will travel to Tallahassee by charter bus and have specifics about our journey shortly.
