Piano & Keyboard Club

Hey there! Good news – pianos are now available for fourteen Surfside students! We’re thrilled to offer piano lessons and practice times in the mornings in the chorus room before school from 8:15 AM to 8:55 AM. Whether you’re already taking piano lessons, want to practice, or are interested in learning, we’ve got you covered. Sign up now, and let’s make some beautiful music together!

Mornings in the Ensemble Room 123-E inside the chorus room.

Please remember these expectations:

  • Handle pianos with care, as they are delicate instruments.
  • Maintain a quiet and respectful environment in the mornings.
  • Practice and studying are the allowed activities.
  • No food or drink is permitted in the practice or ensemble rooms.
  • Use headphones when practicing in rooms with electric pianos.
  • You may connect cell phones and Chromebooks to the audio ports underneath the pianos if needed, provided they teach piano skills.
  • Students are responsible for purchasing headphones and necessary adapters for their electric keyboards.
  • We will have a class Christmas Recital and a Spring Recital.

Club procedures & routines

To keep our club healthy,  please use the hall restroom and wash your hands before playing an instrument. When you arrive in the chorus room, drop off your bookbags and any beverage containers at the front of the room. They must have a lid.    Remember: Only club members are allowed in the room, and “friends” cannot come to hang out. You must be in the chorus room and not out in the hallway or restrooms to visit with friends or go in and out of the chorus room. You must be outside if you are not here to practice, focus, or study.    Currently, only one student at a piano/keyboard and one student in a practice room with an acoustic piano are allowed. The ensemble room has twelve Clavinovas, which must be used with headphones.

Please consider using quality headphones to enjoy the rich tones of the instruments. When finished, please turn off the keyboards, close the lids, and tidy up the area. Thanks for helping keep our music rooms organized and pleasant!
